In the ever-moving rhythm of the city, ASHTA District 8 stands as a quiet oasis, a place for those who seek meaning, inspiration, and connection. More than a lifestyle destination, ASHTA grows through the energy of its community, a space where art is not merely displayed but brought to life through encounters, conversations, and curiosity.

15th UOB Painting of The Year

In this spirit, ASHTA collaborates with UOB Indonesia and Art Jakarta to present the 15th UOB Painting of the Year (Indonesia) exhibition at Melting Pot, Ground Floor, from 15 to 30 October 2025. The exhibition showcases 48 finalist artworks and 8 winning pieces, taking visitors on a moving artistic journey that reflects on identity, equality, and the shared human experience across cultures and generations.

Since its inception, the UOB Painting of the Year competition has served as an important platform for artists, particularly in Indonesia, to express, reflect, and challenge perspectives. This year, its story finds a new home at ASHTA, a space where art and urban life continuously intersect, nurturing dialogue and creativity in equal measure.

Winner and Awards Announcement

The Grand Winner, Eddy Susanto from Yogyakarta, was awarded the 15th UOB Painting of the Year (Indonesia) at the awarding ceremony held at 25hours Hotel Jakarta The Oddbird Ballroom on 15 October 2025. His winning piece, “Kuasa dalam Setara” (Power in Equality), combines transparent cowhide, acrylic sheets, and fine pen drawings, blending the Javanese philosophy Serat Sastrajendra Hayuningrat with the European vanitas aesthetic of the 17th century. The result is a deeply symbolic work that redefines how we perceive identity, power, and equality in the face of cultural change.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Shodik, a young artist from Probolinggo, received the Most Promising Artist of the Year (Indonesia) award for his piece “i am here”, a quiet yet powerful reflection on memory, presence, and the spaces between connection and loss.

Beyond the art itself, this exhibition is a reminder of what art truly does best, bringing people closer. Every visitor is invited to slow down, look closer, and find a piece of their own story within each stroke and shade.

For two weeks, Melting Pot at ASHTA will transform into a living art space, featuring art tours, artist talks, and children’s drawing workshops, creating meaningful dialogues that bridge generations through creativity and shared expression.

This collaboration embodies ASHTA’s commitment to celebrating art within the community, nurturing empathy, connection, and a sense of belonging among all who walk through its space.
