Sunprint of Hope: Meaningful Workshop at Brushstrokes of Hope

Flowers have always carried meanings beyond their beauty, symbols of life, love, memory, and healing. In every culture, they mark beginnings, honor losses, and celebrate joy. At Brushstrokes of Hope, ASHTA District 8, together with Jeumpa, present Sunprint of Hope. This floral-inspired cyanotype workshop transforms fleeting petals into everlasting imprints of strength and resilience.

Jeumpa: A Living Sonnet to Culture

Founded in 2020 by two floral-loving sisters, Jeumpa is not just a floral studio. Inspired by the soul-stirring melodies of Bungong Jeumpa, their creations celebrate Indonesian heritage through the artistry of blooms. From delicate orchids to vibrant marigolds, every arrangement is designed to awaken authenticity and connection. For Jeumpa, flowers are not just decorations, but a language of love and unity.

Cyanotype Flower Printing: Preserving What Matters

At the heart of this workshop is cyanotype, one of the earliest photographic techniques. By harnessing sunlight, flower petals leave striking deep-blue imprints, turning fragile blossoms into lasting works of art.

A Collaboration with Survivors

In this special workshop, 20 breast cancer survivors from Lovepink took part in creating cyanotype prints. Each participant produced three pieces, resulting in 60 unique works that now form part of the Brushstrokes of Hope installation at ASHTA. This act of preservation and resilience mirrors the survivors’ own journeys, delicate yet enduring, fleeting yet powerful.

Sunprint of Hope: Art as Tribute

Displayed together, the cyanotype artworks form Sunprint of Hope, an installation that speaks of solidarity and courage. Just as flowers bloom despite seasons, so too do survivors bloom with renewed strength. Through this collaboration, Jeumpa and ASHTA honor their journeys, creating a space where art becomes both remembrance and renewal.

This collaboration is powered by the support of our tenant, Matchaya. Honoring survivors and warriors’ journeys by sharing matcha creations with participants, a thoughtful gesture that echoed the workshop’s spirit through grounding, healing, and was filled with quiet strength.

The spirit of Sunprint of Hope doesn’t end here. On 11 October, at 10 AM, ASHTA invites the public to experience this meaningful process through a Cyanotype Flower Printing Workshop at the Upper Marketplace Level 2. Here, everyone can explore the beauty of preserving flowers, creating personal imprints of memory and hope.
